A maths teacher opened a room. Fifteen years later, it's an institution.

Pi Institute is what happens when a coaching centre stays in one town long enough to become part of it — students who call themselves  Pians, a sports day in its tenth season, and a founder Bardoli simply calls Ketan Sir.

The name is literal

It began with engineering maths.

In August 2011, a mathematics teacher named Ketan Shah opened a coaching room on Station Road for degree and diploma engineering students — semester maths, ATKT batches, backlog papers. The institute took its name from the subject itself: π.

“Maths-3 Remedial Classes starts from 21st March ’12… Limited Registered Students.”

The first post on record — Facebook, 18 March 2012

School coaching came later, then took over: Std 11–12 Science, then 5–10, now 1–12. But the engineering batches never stopped — and no other coaching centre in Bardoli  teaches them. Two days after that first post came the first result:“Pi result of Engineering Maths 3 is 80%… and toppers had scored AA grade.”

How we teach

“We believe in quality,
not in quantity.”

— Pi Institute, in their own words, March 2020

Small batches, grouped by school

Students sit with classmates who follow the same syllabus, so teaching tracks the school’s actual paper rather than a generic one.

Micro and major test series

Short tests on single topics, longer papers across chapters. Planned across the year, not scheduled when a board exam is near.

Doubt counter sessions

A standing slot to bring a question to a teacher outside class hours — not an appointment you have to request.

Subject specialists

Dedicated teachers per subject rather than one teacher covering everything. Pi has staffed this way since at least 2016.

Parents kept in the loop

Regular parent–teacher meetings, SMS updates, and an app built so a parent can check on their child in one tap.

A room to work in

A stocked library, CCTV throughout, and fire safety — the ordinary things a parent shouldn’t have to ask about.

1000 × π = ₹3,140

Every 14th of March, the name pays for itself.

₹3,140 off admissions on Pi Day — a thousand times the constant we’re named after. Their second branch opened on Pi Day, 2023.
